“I struggle with anxiety and getting to sleep is a real chore when you have racing thoughts, but these lovely little milks really help me relax and drift off much quicker. The chocolate is absolutely delicious and they’re the perfect size for a bedtime drink. I cannot recommend this product enough.”

Tell us a little bit about you? 

I am 33 and currently living back at home after a relationship ended. I am having to use the family living room as my bedroom so there is very little privacy and no real space of my own which is why I do so much to try and get the best sleep I can in these circumstances!

What does your sleep pattern look like? 

I have a pretty solid routine – I aim to be in bed by 10.30pm every night and get up around 5am.

What does your typical bedtime routine look like? 

Around ten to ten I start my bedtime routine. I do a teeth whitening, tidy up, set up my oil diffuser, put castor oil on my lashes(!), spray feather and down pillow spray and use their sleep balm on my pressure points. I then drink my Sleep Well and get into bed with a 10 minute sleep meditation. Usually I’m asleep before it finishes!

Have you always suffered with bad sleep? 

Not always. It was triggered by a bout of depression in 2011. I was taking medication and it really affected my sleep and I suffered with insomnia for a long period at this time. I then had years of waking through the night. I’ve never struggled with falling asleep it was usually staying asleep that was the problem.

Before Sleep Well, have you used other sleep aids before? 

I have used over the counter stuff like Calms and Nytol and in 2011 was prescribed some sleeping tablets by the doctor but I’ve not used them for years.

What advice can you give to others who are suffering from poor sleep? 

Routine. Routine. Routine. Friends and family think I’m nuts for getting up at 5am, even on the weekends but having a regular sleep pattern is so important and I think my bedtime routine is structured enough that it sends signals to my brain that it’s time to sleep.

How did Sleep Well change your sleep? 

This was the first thing I tried when I started a bedtime routine. It just felt reassuring, like I knew I was doing something good to help me sleep.

What do you like most about Sleep Well? 

It feels like a little treat before bed. I love the chocolate one – it’s like having a hot chocolate without being too sickly. I absolutely love what you’re doing as a company, I recommend you to everyone to at least try and was so glad when Sainsbury’s became a stockist. Thank you!

My son James is now almost 14. He has suffered from problems getting to sleep since he was around the age of seven. Once he is asleep he sleeps soundly, but the problem definitely seems to be switching off in the first place. For many years this caused many problems. We found that it changed him from a perfectly reasonable average seven-year-old into a defiant, rude boy which of course rolled on into his school life and meant that he often got into trouble. 


Like any mother I tried to help. I tried many bedtime routines, not allowing him food or TV after 6pm, giving him warm drinks, bedtime stories but none of it seemed to make any difference. I began looking for something that I could give to him to aid relaxation. We looked into various teas but like a lot of children he didn’t like the taste. We looked into drugs that could help like those given for travel sickness that make you sleepy but most had side effects and again we were dealing with a boy of seven then eight so it was very difficult to wrestle with my conscience as to what was right.
For many years we struggled.

When he started year six it became apparent to his teachers how different James became when he was sleeping properly. We spoke to school health visitors but again all they advised me to do was set a good bedtime routine, which I already had for many years. We have two other children so our bedtimes are kept the same as one affects another.

In 2018 James was at secondary school and had won a part in the school production. We knew this could present a challenge as it would mean long school days and late nights, meaning that it would be even more difficult for James to switch off to go to sleep because of the obvious nerves, anxiety and excitement caused by the performance. We also knew it was important for him to sleep to maintain a good attitude at school during the day, so my search for solutions began again.

Being now age eleven, I wondered if there was a better chance of finding something to suit. I got into the habit of checking the internet periodically to see if any new revelations became available that could help James. That’s when in January 2018 I came across Sleep Well. I thought it was almost too good to be true – something natural that had no side effects and was suitable for James’s age (which many of the things I looked at were not). From the start I was impressed. Of course, I had questions. What was it like? Should it be served hot or cold? Does it actually work? I soon got in touch with Sleep Well to ask these things and I was surprised but delighted to receive not only an informative, friendly and honest response but from Allan Watts the man who actually runs the company. This immediately gave me faith in the product and inspired me to order a small pack for James to try. From the start Allan warned me that it wasn’t something that would actively send James to sleep, but instead, help him relax. 

When I told James, we were going to try it he was agreeable and quite happy when we received the packs in the post. We waited for the first night of his performance to give it a try, it was a big ask we knew that! 

James decided that he would try the milk warm as this seems to be better for before bedtime. He was instantly taken with the sweetness and nice taste of the milk and within half an hour of having the milk we could see that he was a lot calmer and relaxed ready to go to sleep. We repeated that after each performance and found that it worked the same each night. James says he feels much better for finding the milk and not only does it help him get to sleep but he feels more refreshed like he has slept better when he wakes up in the morning.

We find it really important to stick to a routine of no food after 6pm and no technology an hour before bed. We have also noticed that we have to keep to a constant routine of what time he goes to bed as this can affect him greatly.

I cannot credit the team at Sleep Well enough. They have helped me so many times over the last few years; answering questions, giving advice on Sleep Well and generally staying in touch to ask about James’ progress. We now buy Sleep Well whenever James is struggling or when we know he needs help maintaining a good sleep routine, or has extra stresses in life such as exams and performances. We will soon be thinking about placing an order for his mock GCSE exams.

“I was really sceptical when buying this product. I haven’t slept properly in 4-5 months, only getting 1-2 hours a night. I’ve been drinking Sleep Well for a week now and it has helped me doze off and I get around 6 hours sleep now! It tastes amazing too!”

I’m Lucie. I’m 23 years old, from Hertfordshire. I work in retail management, and am also a full time carer at home for a family member. I enjoy baking as a pastime and I have four pugs who keep me very busy.

My sleeping pattern used to be maximum two to three hours a night. If I managed to sleep more than that, it would usually be during the day. Since drinking Sleep Well, I now get seven to eight hours a night, which is amazing! I still tend to wake up feeling a little tired, but overall, I feel a lot more refreshed than I used to feel.  

As a teenager I suffered with bad sleep but eventually grew out of it. Then, in 2017, I fell very ill and was given less than 24 hours to live. Going through such an experience of course triggered an increase in stress. It was nerve wracking. It was during my recovery period that my sleep pattern was affected. My sleep was so up and down – there would be times where all I would do is sleep, and other times where I felt invincible and told myself I didn’t need sleep. 

I’ve never really had much of a bedtime routine but since discovering Sleep Well, I’ve found myself following a nightly routine. I wash and get my PJs on ready for bed, then either watch a film or do something relaxing but productive like read a book or some colouring. Around 30 – 45 minutes before I plan to go to sleep, I will drink my Sleep Well, either cold or warmed up, and use my pillow mist. I’ll settle down into bed with an eye mask on and drift off. It’s a great feeling to have figured out a routine that actually works for me. 

I’ve previously used prescribed medications, herbal medications, a million pillow mists before finding one that helps, breathing techniques, acupuncture, meditation, yoga, sleeping soundtracks. You name it I tried it! 

If you’re reading this and currently struggling with your sleep, then my advice is to not overthink not being able to sleep. You need to relax your mind in order to relax your body! Try not to have any screen time (phone, TV etc.) 30 minutes before falling asleep as the blue light they emit can have a negative effect on sleep. I sometimes use ear plugs to block out any sound and I love using an eye mask to block out any unwanted light. 

Why Sleep Well? Well, firstly, it has actually helped me sleep! Since drinking Sleep Well I have felt a lot more comfort in being able to get to sleep. I’m getting around seven to eight hours a night. I feel a lot more positive and ready to face the day ahead. I absolutely LOVE that you can warm it up! The chocolate is amazing cold, it tastes just like a thick luxury milkshake. I also enjoy it hot as it’s just like drinking a lovely hot chocolate. The vanilla is very soothing cold but is also perfect mixed up warmed with hot chocolate powder or horlicks. 

Thank you for changing my sleep for the better. I haven’t been able to recommend this company enough to friends and family!
